About LaNeice

Oh to be a Delta Girl...
My Delta Story
For me, being a Delta is more than just membership in an organization. It is a lifelong commitment to sisterhood, scholarship, service, social action, leadership, and a space to live out love in action.
I was initiated into the Dynamic Detroit Alumnae Chapter on March 26, 1999, and from the very beginning, I had a heart for service and a desire to learn. I immersed myself in the work of the Sorority by serving on committees, attending cluster meetings, regional conferences, and national conventions, and studying Delta’s governing documents, policies, procedures, and guiding principles.
As my knowledge of Delta grew, so did my desire to serve. For more than 27 years, I have given continuous, active service at the chapter, state, regional, and national levels, leading with dependability, compassion, understanding, and with a genuine love for sorors. Each role and every assignment has prepared me for this moment: to serve the Mighty Midwest Region with steady leadership, a listening heart, and a vision rooted in connection, excellence, and impact.

Rooted in Service. Prepared to Lead.

My Delta service experience includes both breadth and depth. I have had the honor of serving as chapter president of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter, one of the largest chapters in the Midwest, with more than 800 members. Under my leadership, the chapter was recognized as Large Chapter of the Year, reflecting our collective commitment to vision, teamwork, meaningful service, and sisterhood.
My Delta leadership also includes service as First Vice President, Second Vice President, Membership Services Chair, Program Planning and Development Chair, Risk Management Coordinator/Trainer, Scholarship Chair, Founders Day Chair, and Chair of the Lillian Pierce Benbow Leadership Program.
Regionally, I have served as Midwest MIT/DID Co-Coordinator, Master Membership Intake Trainer, Master Delta Internal Development Facilitator, Certified Advisor, and Certified Investigator. Nationally, I currently serve as the Midwest Member
of the National Scholarship and Standards Committee, where I help uphold Delta’s standards, strengthen chapter operations, support policy alignment, and advance governance with fairness, clarity, and accountability.
Through every role, I have remained committed to one guiding belief: when Sorors are informed, supported, heard, and empowered, chapters are stronger, sisterhood is deeper, and the Region rises together.

My Life Story
Detroit Made. Service Driven. Heart Led.
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan—the Motor City. I am an overcomer, a hard worker, and a woman of deep faith, purpose, and perseverance. I am bold yet compassionate, collaborative, resourceful, selfless, and socially responsible. These are my personal values.

That is why my personal life and professional career have both been shaped by a passion for public service and community impact. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Social Work in Social Welfare Administration from the University of Michigan. These disciplines gave me a strong foundation in servant leadership, process improvement, advocacy, organizational management, and community-centered service.

At my core, I am a people person. I believe in helping others grow, creating space for people to be heard, and building supportive environments where people can succeed. That same spirit guides my Delta leadership. I lead with both structure and soul, grounded in established policy, but moved by the real needs of real people. This is the heart of The Love JONES Connection: leadership that listens, serves, connects, and guides with excellence.
My Professional Story
Experienced Leadership That Matters
Professionally, I serve as the CEO of the Southwest Detroit Community Justice Center, a community-based social justice organization specializing in programs that allow for jail diversion, alternative sentencing, restorative practices, and wraparound support for individuals and families. In this role, I provide executive leadership, oversee staff and programs, manage operations and fiscal responsibilities, build partnerships, and advance strategies that strengthen organizational sustainability and community impact.
My career in human services spans more than 34 years, including more than 30 years in management and executive leadership positions. I have led teams, managed budgets, developed programs, supervised complex operations, secured funding, built community partnerships, and made difficult decisions with integrity and accountability.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized for outstanding leadership, including receiving the Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence Award. I am a graduate of Leadership Detroit and currently serve as Chair of the SASHA Center Board of Directors, helping provide governance and strategic support for culturally specific services provided to survivors of sexual assault.
My professional experience directly strengthens my readiness to serve as Midwest Regional Director. I understand how to lead people, manage systems, resolve conflict, build consensus, protect organizational integrity, and move a mission forward.
